USC has a white coat ceremony during orientation week for incoming 1st yrs.
You go up on stage and they put the white labcoat on you.... <img border="0" alt="[Pity]" title="" src="graemlins/pity.gif" />

Sonigee,
To the contrary, the White Coat Ceremonies are in the beginning of your professional education symbolically stating that you're on your way to be a Health Profession! It's kind of saying, "good job, you made it to medical/dental/Pharmacy school!" type of thing. The school that I go to now, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM) did their White Coat Ceremony during the 4th week into the first semester first year and Nova College of Dental Medicine will do my White Coat Ceremony on the Sunday before our first class on Monday! It's a great event to invite family and friends! I can't wait for mine!

When you graduate dental school you get hooded. That is supposed to welcome you to the profession. We get hooded the day before the actual graduation.

A person with the same degree, usually faculty or a mentor places a "sash" around your neck, over the graduation gown.
Creighton's is during the orientation week before the start of the first year. Since we see patients at the hospital, patients and the preceptor clinics for HnPs, and attend Grand Rounds at the Hospital, we need to have our "uniform" for the first year.
VCU has a white coat in the middle of the first year. It should be fun!!!

Case Western Reserve University has a white coat ceremony at the beginning of the 3rd year during the summer session.
Because Case started the sealant program for the 1st years, to accommodate early interactions with patients they have moved the ceremony so that it will now be held during orientation period.
Does anyone know about UNLV?

At my interview, i was told you have it at the end of the second year.
The White Coat Ceremony experiene is actually one of the things about dental school that i am VERY looking forward to. I think it is a very nice way to be welcomed into the profession.
Aphistis or someone who knows, does IUSD have the ceremony?
i haven't gotten anything from them and so i have no idea what is in store for new comers there. all i know is that i will be getting more info about the labtop, finaid, and vaccines in the next 2 months and that our orientation is on july 6,7. would have been better if i knew a little sooner than that.
