Cohort questions

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
In my previous (masters) program, I asked our program head to please send out a contact information (with everyone's permission, of course). In my current program, I just saw everyone when they showed up to our first class.

We received multiple group emails from the department secretary from April - August that had everyone cc'd on them, but they were more informational in nature.

I think in June or July, someone from the cohort sent a chain email out for us to all introduce ourselves. At that point, whoever had facebook became friends with each other.

As soon as soon of some of us moved down there (beginning of August and "duties" started mid-August), we got into contact and went to happy hours and such to get acquainted.

Yes, at my program the DCT or faculty member in charge of interviews contacts the incoming cohort and asks the new students to submit a short introduction (2 paragraphs) and a picture. This info is then sent to everyone in the cohort along with contact information in case people want to try to find a place to live together. This happens after April 15th once people have made the committment. I have no idea what other programs do.

Our DCT got permission from each of us to share e-mail addresses with the rest of the group and then sent out an email to all of us with everyone's contact information. I don't remember exactly when this happened, but I'm pretty sure it was around April 15th.

Our program sent out a "welcome" email shortly after April 15, so we could see each others' email addresses in it. We eventually all replied amongst ourselves to introduce ourselves.
Yep, exactly the same here, although the email was more towards the end of May I think.
