Cold-calling/emailing for lab/research

I don't have any research/lab experience. So I decided that I wanted to volunteer in this field. I googled clinical labs/clinical research in my area and got some hits. I then emailed one and they just sent me an email back. So cold calling or even a cold email actually works!😀

Dear Ms ...,
Thank you for contacting our organization with an interest in
volunteering. We have a medical reference lab and we have a clinical
research clinic. The lab deals with processing blood and urine
samples and produces results by processing these samples through
specialized equipment for chemistry and hematology results for
physician and nurses in the Baton Rouge area. Our research center
recruits patients to volunteer for clinical trials we are conducting
in the areas of dermatology, neurology, gastroenterology, pain
management, and women's health.

What area or areas of our work would you like to volunteer?
What would you like to get (learn) out of assisting our lab or
research professionals?

That's how I got a position as well. Its the only way to get yourself out there if you dont' have a network in place!
