Anyone starting to get cold feet? I thought I was ready and excited about beginning podiatry school, but now I am starting to get cold feet and wonder if this is really what's best for me. I'm not sure I'm ready to pack up and move and set up shop in a new place for the next 4-7 years. I'm also starting to wonder if I should just go for the MD route instead, I dont know what the hell is going on. It all just kind of hit me this weekend. It's a big decision and big investment..anyone else having their doubts?

i have had no doubts since I interviewed. In fact, the more I think about it and am exposed to things, the more I know I made the right decision. I think it depends on each persons situation. However, if you are losing sleep over it right now, I think you need to talk to people that you love and trust and ask for advice. In the end, it needs to be your decision. And yes, it is a big one.

I will tell you what, invest sometime shadowing a DPM, MD and may be Dentist for like two months...Do not look at schools and curriculums taht u would only spend 4 years with..See reality of the job that would stick with u for the rest of ur life. I belive that a couple of months time investment is a cheap price for making a life long descision!!!

Honestly, I've had a few things go on in my life personally, in which I'm highly considering not attending OCPM in August.......Thinking about taking a year off & spending more time @ home with my family....

Damn.....it sucks b/c I'm already old as dirt (26)....
****Note to ya'll 20 y/o young-bucks----Don't age, b/c it sucks 😡****

Wow if 26 is old as dirt, at least 1/4 of my class is ancient!! I hope things get better with the family.

To the OP, I think having a few doubts is natural is it is such a huge step. Definately spend some more time shadowing if you can. That really helped seal the deal for me.

Did they offer anything about a deferment?

Yes.....Also, they told me that they have "family counselors" available to the students during the 1st year transition, etc...etc...(Obviously, I'm not the only person w/ issues)....However, I don't wanna just jump up there with my problems, be distracted, & possibly fail a course :scared:........I'm just glad that I'm having these issues NOW----rather than later in OH!

wow and u were predent first (with stats i cant believe u werent admitted with)... but u woulda died in ur first year bc they take boards after 1st year.

however when i interviewed at AZPOD there was an older class where it seemed many of them already had kids. i think that u could do it, but the hard part is finding the balance between school and family. bc def the latter of the two is the committment u made first. with ur prehealth stats it def seems like u have no trouble balancing work and studies tho. best of luck!!
