I know some schools require collecting teeth. Would it be a bad idea to start collecting teeth now as an undergrad? I have a few more years to go before even applying..but I would like to get a head start. I volunteer at an oral surgery clinic where I would be able to get them by the buckets. I'm not going to be volunteering here after this fall semester due to location.

Is it advised/good idea to start collecting teeth early? They won't go "bad" will they?

Stupid question. I know. What do you guys think?

ALSO IF ANYONE HAS A LIST OF SCHOOLS THAT REQUIRE COLLECTING TEETH PLEASE POST!!

There is absolutely no reason to be collecting teeth now! I don't know a list of which schools require teeth etc, but again there is no point of collecting now. Keep tabs with the oral surgeon and drop off a jar once you get accepted and find out where your going for dental school. If you end up moving, then i'm sure you can contact any local dental surgeon who would be willing to donate teeth to you. Relax and enjoy undergrad! (keep ur grades up tho!! 😀)

The thing is I really lucked out. The oral surgery clinic i volunteer at is at a hospital. All the OMFS there are residents. So I don't really have a contact besides the one surgical assistant they have. I rather have all those teeth collected now so in case I do need to go to one of those collect teeth schools - I can do it. There's another guy that has been collecting teeth at our clinic and he has three bottles in a month. It'll save me a lot of trouble! I would rather not spend my last summer/semester in undergrad collecting teeth lol

My question is..am I TOO ahead of the game? Will something happen to those teeth sitting around for a few years? I'll keep them in the 10% bleach and everything.
