I just found out I am required to collect around 150 teeth before Sep. How do I go about asking dentists and Oral Surgeons to collect them for me. Are most dentists pretty cool about being approached about this?

They all had to do it for school and they all know why you're there.

What kind of solution are they having you store them in?

10% bleach solution

Better yet go ask an oral surgeon, they probably do at least one full mouth extraction a week, you'll be rolling in the teeth before you know it.

I agree with corolla..your best bet is to get extracted teeth from an oral surgeon..im sure they will be more then willing to help.

Make sure you get plenty of teeth. You can NEVER have too many teeth. I had 3 one-gallon jars each filled over half way with teeth and I wish I had more. Remember that most teeth are extracted for a reason....a rotted tooth does you no good. You need them as pristine as possible, and you therefore need lots of teeth to sort through. Oral surgeons pull more 3rd molars than any other tooth, and these are worthless to you in dental school.

here is what UCLA suggested to us:

Obtain a supply of buffered 10% formalin from Amico Scientific Corp., 7231 Garden Groove Blvd., Garden Groove, CA, (714) 894-6633. Please purchase 1 liter. Also, purchase 4 collection jars to allow for multiple collection sites.
