Collecting Transcripts?

Sorry guys, I searched for this question a few ways but I didn't find any obvious answers.

I attended a few colleges (started UG at one but transferred to the school I graduated from, then took some of the prerequisites at another school as well as my alma mater) so I need to request transcripts from all of them.

One, these all need to be official transcripts, correct? I'm fairly certain this is the case but I just want to be sure.

Secondly, I will need them for my primary app, right? Because I need to enter everything for my GPA? Will I need to resubmit them to schools individually when I get secondaries?

Thirdly, and this is my main question, is do I need to request another transcript for each school I send a secondary to? Does AMCAS handle them? Or can I just upload them into Interfolio when I get them and send them out that way? There's no copyright or anything that I would violate by doing this since they're my records, right?

You'll need to send them all to AMCAS for your primary app. You shouldn't need to send them for secondaries, but you will need to send final versions to the school you will matriculate at.

1) Yes, all need to be official. Have them sent directly to AMCAS from each school.

2a) Yes, you will need them all for your primary app. After you "submit" your primary app with your personal statement, grades, MCAT, and contact info, the AMCAS will take ~4-6 weeks to "Verify" that all the grades and courses you entered online match what is on your transcripts.

2b) Yes/No. Of the schools I applied to, none of them asked for transcripts in the secondary. However, one school (UCLA) asked for an official copy of my transcripts for the interview.

3) No, you will only have to submit copies to AMCAS for your primary application, unless the school specifically requests their own copy (see 2b). Most schools will not do this.

Thanks, folks. I am going to start requesting them soon. I am not planning on taking any more classes unless I wind up choosing to matriculate at a school that wants me to take another semester of math.

I would go ahead and request unofficial copies of all transcripts now for your own use in filling out the primary app. Then when the primary is made available, you'll have the schools send official transcripts directly to the AAMC. 👍

AMCAS will take ~4-6 weeks to "Verify" that all the grades and courses you entered online match what is on your transcripts.

If you submit the first week of June, it may take only a few days to get your transcripts verified. As the application season goes on, it takes longer and longer to get verified, until, by October, it takes 5-6 weeks.

And I agree with getting unofficials for yourself ahead of time so you're all set to fill that part of the app out while the officials are being mailed to amcas.
