In your opinion, is it bad to have a pretty good GPA/Sci GPA (~3.7) but not exactly have had the highest course loads per semester? I graduated 7 years ago (Chem major), and back then I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do. I was in ROTC and worked a lot (at a bar/restaurant, not something school related) to pay the bills, etc. I knew I was going to be an officer in the Navy so regretfully I just took classes I needed and electives I liked, and didn't really stress myself out too much. I still worked hard, but we're talking 12-16 credits per semester (with 4 usually coming from my ROTC classes).

In the past year I've taken 5 bio classes in the evenings (20 credits, 4.0 GPA) while working full time, recently starting shadowing/assisting and studying for my DAT. Do you think that will somewhat make up for the fact that I wasn't really the biggest overachiever during undergrad? It's just getting tougher and tougher to get accepted each year, and sometimes I wonder if I really screwed myself all those years ago...

Opinions? Advice? Thanks!

I dont belive so. GPA of 3.7 is nice and Chemistry is no easy major. It sure is not comparable to psych, and all majors have different degrees of difficulty for different people. I think it would weigh against you if you were majoring in a course with less study demands (i.e. sociology, art, etc.). For whatever your reason on not amp-ing up the course load....so be it. It's the past and you did what you had to, to support yourself through school and so on. So, I'll say to you what I've been told.....focus on the time you have before you, no regrets....you only get one life. G-luck to you.
