searching this, I have found a few schools that make it really tough to get a good gpa.

some only give a 4.0 for a 98-100, not the traditional 90-100.

some strong pre-med schools just don't give a's. EXCEPT for truly exceptional work, meaning the top grade in a class could be a B.

Penn, Duke, Austin College, Wash U, etc. seem, AND I MAY BE WRONG! have this reputation.

Do adcoms know to look for this, or if not a true rocket scientist, should I avoid these schools.

Med school is my plan, and no need to make the road getting there any harder than it has to be...

Comments? Any schools to add or remove from this list?

Does not matter where you go ( to a certain extent ). Go for the cheapest option. Preferably state school.

You can go to most schools, premed, and be perfectly fine. The schools that don't have a lot of premeds, are more likely to be like that because there are certain programs that attract non premed students (and often have smaller # of enrolled undergraduates). Doesn't matter what you major in either.

Don't worry about how schools grade...
If you're worried about getting in being hard... med school is harder.

I know that adcoms know that some schools have a reputation for grade deflation and will adjust for it (not completely, but some adjustment). I think MIT, Johns Hopkins and Cornell have a reputation for deflation. I think Ivy League schools in general are boosted up a bit by adcoms based on grade deflation.

The University of Pennsylvania is not known for grade deflation.

From my experiences here, the humanities courses are definitely inflated for sure. The science courses don't share the same effects though. I'm not going to go say that it's grade deflated like Cornell or anything but relative to its Ivy League peers it's not as grade friendly. That said all of the classes are on a curve though so I guess I can see why people say there's no grade deflation here. But people do get A's here, just not as ridiculously as in Harvard lol

Definitely possible to get to med school from Penn though. 83% acceptance rate is pretty sweet even though its intro to chem class can be notoriously tough.

I agree, you should go where ever it's cheapest for you (as long as it's not some community college). That being said, here are some of the ones with lots of grade deflation:

-Boston University
-Purdue (Very rigorous curriculum. Great school.)

Duke actually is know for grade inflation. The average GPA is almost 3.5 which is very high.
