The former. I think that the more precise the grading scheme the better.

Definitely love the A/B/C/D/F system. More than once my grade would have been an A- otherwise.
If you want less stress in your life, definitely the A/B/C/D/F system. I am on the +/- system right now and at the end of every semester, I stress about whether my A will drop to an A- because it will make a difference. The A and A- values aren't too different, but I believe there's a noticeable difference between a B+ and a B- in your GPA.
The +/- system was devised by sadist to torment students. I hate it with a passion. Keep in mind a C- is not a passing grade. And the difference from a minus to a plus is half a grade point in GPA.
