Strange question, but I've been wondering.

Do people who apply for a combined program at CSU have higher rates of acceptance? Does this reflect favorably upon you? 😵'

I don't think that's really an "answerable" question as there are too many mitigating factors to consider.

They do have the rule that if you are offered admission for one of the combined programs and decline, you are not eligible for consideration for the DVM alone, though.

*nods* Actually, it was that stipulation that made me wonder! I wonder if they have had a problem in the past with considering people for admission because they were interested in the Combined Programs and then changed their mind.

I was somewhat interested in doing a DVM/PhD program and I have a heavy research background, so if it increased my chances of being admitted it really would have clinched my decision. Haha. 🙂

I was looking at the DVM/MBA program last year and they (the admissions people) said you actually have a smaller chance because you're competing for less spots.

Don't you get considered with the regular application pool then? That is, if you don't get a spot in the combined program.

Yeah, you do. I think (and I may be incorrect) that the original poster was actually asking about whether just applying to a dual degree will increase your chances of admission in the regular pool should you be denied from the dual degree.

The only thing I could possibly see that would indicate that it helps is that if you apply to one of the dual degree programs, with the new phased admissions process it looks as if you would stand no chance of being screened out at phase 2 if your GPA is questionable like you would without applying to one of those programs.
