If you can prove everything - cancelled check, copies of emails, proof of delivery then you have a great deal of room to make demands. It does suck to be in that position, but you're within your rights to assert yourself.

I agree with twester. If they cashed your check, there was obviously an error on their part.

I had the same thing happen! I was a little irritated too, but was going to turn down the interview if i got one anyway. Still though, I know they got everything from me!

i called today and they verified it and said it was incorrect. you should too.

Ok, thanks! I'll do that

The lesson I've learned from undergrad is ALWAYS send things certified with return receipt! That way you have proof of delivery and who signed for it.

I did this last week and the lady at the post office said "Well, it's going to cost almost $5 to send this". I said "that's fine!" Better safe than sorry.

While i agree that is probably the thing that I would do in your situation, you gotta look at it like a logical college student. Don't just turn it down because of that. If I were you, I would go anyways and see if you can get it, because you never know if you will get accepted to any other school, and you would kick yourself in the ass if you could have gotten into Colorado but you let your pride get in the way.

That, and they are dealing with over 1800 applications! They made a mistake, but at least they have the class to admit it and give you a fair chance.
