Colorado Waitlist

Typically just the top third and sometimes into the middle third, but I doubt this year because of all the damn applicants.

There were more applicants than usual at Colorado this year?

Hmmm. Not to hijack the thread, but on a tangent, I just this minute saw on the news that the new CU medical school building is on hold indefinitely. They say that funding for the new campus has been challenged in court. Apparently funding for facilities at the Canon City prison and the medical school are coming out of the same legislation, which opponents say is not legal. They say new building on the campus may not continue until next year. Good lord.

edit: I just posted a thread about this so as not to hijack the thread. Apologies to the OP.

Not to hijack an almost-hijacked thread, but I was curious about the out of state applicant situation at CU. Is it like ECU (absolutely no chance, not even an interview), or more like OHSU (decent chance for interview) as far as the continuum of applying as a non-resident goes?

Oh, and best ofl uck getting off the wait list, Cacophny. 👍

Well for starters I know the CU waitlist has started to move since one of my friends was pulled off the waitlist last week. Typically the top third and part of the second third get pulled off (not sure about this year).

Second for out of staters I am not sure. The class is typically 80-85% in state applicants (so 106-112 in state for the class of 132). There are usually ~ 6000 applicants of which ~600 are in state. You do the math for your chances (they look for high GPAs and MCATs for the remainder of out of staters).

Hey Snapdad, where did you get your info? It is entirely possible (since the last I heard they had pushed the new campus start date back a semester), but I haven't heard a thing about it on the news or from the school (and I work at CU medical school).

It was on Channel 7 news, right at the end of the program. Just a quick blurb.

Thanks guys.

I know they are entering or on the verge of entering the second tier.
If my interpretation of cryptic messages is correct, I am in the top half of the second tier, but since Sean (the administrator) didn't tell me I was close...I am probably 10 away or more.

For out of state, getting the interview is the major hurdle.
After that is just depends on your stats. It is all about the numbers. It is still nearly impossible, especially with the hold on the school. But the 70K price tag makes it less appealing for out-of-staters.
