It looks like this time last year is when they started sending out acceptances to CSU out-of-state. Any news, out-of-state or in-state?

don't they have to do in-state interviews first? or no?

anyway, out of state, and haven't heard a peep.

a good friend of mine goes there and he said they should be sending out out of state letters "very soon". 😳

Those of you who have heard news about acceptances/rejections, did your status page change at all since the Dec. 5 update?

They have already sent out in-state rejection letters. They do not interview out-of-state residents, and to my knowledge those letters have not been sent yet.

im nervous...it freaks me out that they dont give interviews

Has anyone noticed a change in the status page? I'm also out-of-state & I did see that they checked the box for my fall transcripts, but no actions since then. I was wondering if it'd be by snail-mail or via the web. The wait is freakin killing me!

I think it's a phone call, but I could be very wrong...

Hi guys, this is copied from last years acceptance posts so there are different times for those accepted, some even heard late b/c of the waitlist...
It looks like we either get a phone call or letter???? Hard to tell. But anytime between 1/17 and 5/8. Nicely vague isn't it???

Colorado State: holdencaulfield (letter), chickenboo (1/17/06), ibeziris (I: 2/9/06 A: 2/14/06), chinangel1 (phone), PaThbrd (A:4/18/06, phone off alternate list), wishes (A:4/27/06, phone off alternate list), snowyegret (A: 5/2/06, phone off alternate list), cowcat (5/3/06 off alternate list), Quaggi (5/8/06 off alternate list)

Hey, since we're already on the subject of Colorado, what is everyone's interpretation of the 'holistic' admissions process?

I'm wondering if grades (provided all prereqs are successfully met) might be slightly overlooked if experience/personal statement/lor's are stellar...or even vice versa?

I understand there is no minimum GPA, but they have to keep up stats, right? Just trying to get a feel for where the leeway might fall. 😕

They send letters initially. First they reject in-state, then they accept/reject/wait list out-of-state, all by mail. Then they interview in-state and accept/reject. Then they take off the alternate list, which is most likely a phone call since time is tighter.

That's my take after reading all the posts from last year. It looks like they've already rejected a bunch of in-staters, so we should be hearing by mail soon for out-of-state.

It's nice on paper, but... there were just too many instances where good people didn't get in and "bad" people did. And nobody could say what made a good applicant, because nobody knew. I knew someone who applied via WICHE, graduated at the top of her class, involved with lots of research, took graduate level courses, involved in extracurriculars, had experience and didn't get in (luckily she did get in to another school that was smart enough to take her). That year, someone else applying through WICHE from the same home state had not a great GPA, and the day she got in, bragged about how she played 'the race card.' She failed her first semester and had to repeat the year. It makes me wonder what kinds of skeletons some of these people have in there closet. Anyway, my classmates and I always felt like it was a crapshoot. Also, I never knew anyone who got useful information out of their post-mortem interview.

Oh and they claim they only compile stats when they have their class selected. How true that is, I dunno. I see the value of not having rigid numerical standards, which is nice for those of us with something other than a cookie-cutter background. On the other hand, they let in some nutcases.

Heard it from the "horses mouth" that they were sending out letters today 1/18/07 and tomorrrow for non-sponsored out of state students. Also I am knew to this forum, so here is a big Howdy from Aggieland. 😀

you mean letters for both acceptance and rejections?

by the way, it's my 1st post. hi to everyone!

I have been told that they are sending out rejection, acceptance, and waitlisted letters today and tomorrow. I would think everyone should get a letter if they are out of state non-sponsored by the end of next week.

Aggieland.. Kansas? Just curious. If you feel weird answering, you can ignore me and I'll understand.

Aggieland...not sure...maybe College Station, TX... but Aggieville is definately in Manhattan, KS. I know from experience...drank way too much beer in Aggieville on numerous occasions.

Whenever you see the words 'howdy' and 'aggie'....it's Texas. Howdy back at you, mossy! Amanda '04

Personally, since I'm a "non-traditional" student as they say, I felt it a real benefit. It was nice to know they weren't going through the pile and going "3.3 GPA - too low - out". What a novel concept to look at the whole app, not just weed out by the numbers.

If you look at their acceptance statistics I think you will find them right in line with most other schools.

Re: a later post and crazy people. I hate to break it to you all but there are going to be crazy class members everywhere. Think of all the instances where you've worked with a crazy person. Someone interviewed them and thought they were okay. Interviews are no guarantee that you are going to get a sane group. AND when it comes to the perfect applicant not getting in and the weak applicant getting in - I've heard of that happening everywhere. That's why I always considered this whole process somewhat of a crapshoot.

*Holds breath for Colorado*
Nah, they probably won't even bother to send me a rejection letter...they'll just ignore me altogether I'm sure..man, its such a great school and such a beautiful area.
CSU is like the hottest guy in room...and you're pretty sure he wouldn't be interested in lil old you =P

The formal offer letter from the Dean will go in the mail today and will include information about how to set up a visit with our students, faculty and facilities."

I got mine at 10:28 AM eastern time...

Just got off the phone with Janet in the Dean's office...she said some out of state acceptance emails went out today- not all. She said they are doing them in groups and to just be patient. We should all hear by the end of January.

CONGRATULATIONS soxbox and peco! That's amazing! 😀

Glad to hear about some of you guys getting in. I haven't heard anything yet. Of those of you who did get in out of state, what was your primary area of intrest and experience (large animal, mixed, small animal)?

Thanks 🙂

Well I had about 5000 hours small animal (private clinic and Tufts Small Animal Hospital) and 5000 hours research (ranging from mice and rats to sheep and pigs... mostly done at Tufts Vet School), and my interest I think at this point is going into lab animal medicine...

thanks for calling taenia

by the way, is anyone else having issues with this post, like quoting others?

I got accepted too!!!! Woohoo!!!!! /
Sox, did yours say something about a scholarship?

It did... $3500 towards first year... is that normal?

What did yours say?

ya! mine mentioned the scholarship, too. sounds weird...

Congrats, peco, rosiemoll, and soxbox!! 😀

Do you mind sharing your stats? Also, I'm wondering how they're choosing groups for the emails...any ideas?
