I will be attending CU-Boulder next year as a transfer student, I am currently a Michigan resident. Would it be smart to change my residency to Colorado since they seem to put more emphasis on their own residents? I don't know too much about the admissions to either UMich or Colorado so please don't flame me too bad 🙂

If you want to go to Colorado for dental school, definitely change your residency. You cannot change it once you start school and it costs an extra ~$23,000 for out-of-state. Get your drivers license in Colorado, register to vote there, maybe work some and you might be able to apply in-state. When I applied I had to fill out a residency form and it asked stuff about jobs, where you lived, where you vote, etc., but if they see that you came to Colorado just for school, you might not be able to get in-state for dental school ( especially if you're paying out-of-state in Bolder). You'll definitely keep your residency in Michgan, though (your parents probably are there, right?).

How long is the period to gain in-state residency? It would make sense for anyone that wanted to attend there out of state to just move, work/save for a year and then go to school as a resident for ~100,000 less. If you can get in out of state, it seems like you should be able to get in pretty easily in state.

im a resident of colo and went to boulder. Out of state at Boulder is crazy expensive. If you could change just for that i would. I paid 6k/year and my roomate from cali paid 30k/year. What major you going to do at CU? And did you hear boulder is trying to impeach bush lol. Different breed there in boulder, but an amazing town thats very very fun. Lots of hotties too.
