Has anyone heard anything from Colorado, especially any non-WICHE out-of-state applicants?

I know that they interview the bulk of their applicants later than most schools and that the competition is stiff for out-of-state applicants, but I have not heard ANYTHING from the school. I already called but they were not very helpful (would not even check to see if my app was complete...)

PLEASE post if you've heard something! thanks

I am a WICHE student and heard from them last week. They sent a letter about receiving my application, DAT scores and all. Typical secondary. I know of one SDNer with great stats that got rejected in August because he was out of state. I have heard from a graduate of Colorado that they reserve 24 seats for CO residents, 9 for WICHE and 1 for out of state. Yes, pretty dang tough if you are out of state! Hope this helps

Last years class was 46 people..so the numbers have grown...and will continue to grow as they plan to move to a new facility in two years...

They have finally increased the enrollment? That is great news. Where did you find that out?

I found this on the website..

The School of Dentistry enrolled its first class in 1973 and presently enrolls 36 dental and 20 dental hygiene students annually. The small class size of the school is an asset to the teaching and learning processes.

I met with the Associate Dean for Admissions in August. He gave me the following numbers from this year's entering class (I think that's where they are from, but not 100% sure) which some of you may be interested in:

CO residents:
Applied: 98
Interviewed:85
Enrolled: 27

WICHE:
Applied: 180
Interviewed:40
Enrolled: 17

non-CO/WICHE:
Applied: over 450
Interviewed:10
Enrolled: 2

So yeah, I'll have a pretty rough time even getting an interview! I guess no news is good news though, if they are already rejecting out-of state applicants. I submitted my AADSAS in early June so maybe they are not sure what to do with me yet??? Or maybe they lost my app? frustrating.......

AHHHHHHH I REALLY WANT TO GO TO COLORADO!!!

NicolasPorter-

Do you know the stats of the "SDNer with great stats who got rejected"??

I don't want to disclose any information that the person might now want me to, but I can tell you that they had over 3.7 GPA (both science and overall) and 21 DAT. The letter said that they prefer WICHE and CO residents. What is your state of residence? Why do you want to go to CO so bad?

My state of residence is Wisconsin, so we have no state school, just Marquette, which is private.

I want to go to CO for many reasons, here are some of them:

1. Relatives, including one of my brothers (who I am very close to) live there. Parents plan on retiring there soon.

2. They are getting new facilities which, from what I heard, are being built by the same people who did Marquette's new building, which I have toured and liked.

3. Have heard many good things about the program.

4. I LOVE the state- go there 3-4 times a year. Love the mountains, outdoor activities, etc

5. decent cost of living and you get in-state tuition after 1 year

When are they getting new facilities? Also, can anyone establish residency after one year?

I have heard from Colorado. I have an interview with them in November. I have a friend who has an interview with them this weekend. We are both WICHE students...

I am pretty sure the new facilities will be up and running our 2nd year (Fall 2005).

And from what the Dean of Admissions said, it sounded like anyone could get in-state tuition after one year, but you may want to call and ask them to be sure. Do WICHE applicants get a cut on tuition just for being WICHE? If so, then maybe only non-WICHE get in-state after 1 yr...... i dunno

Also, those of you with interview invites, how did they contact you (phone, e-mail...)?
