Does Columbia have an unusually high interview rate? I took the AUgust MCATs and they are the first school to invite me for an interview (yesterday-11/03). How soon should I be expecting to hear from other schools?
Another question--does anybody know how medical schools react to disciplinary action (not academic, like cheating). I made it clear on my application that I dealt with everything, and my grades, mcats, experience are good enough that I hope they can look past it. Any stories/info out there?

columbia interviews about 50% of their applicants. there is 1 interview at the school.

this is in large part due to the fact that many fewer people apply here than to AMCAS schools. Part of the reason columbia remains non-AMCAS is so they don't have to sift through 5-6,000 apps, but can pick among the 2,000 or so applicants who really want to come here enough to fill out a separate form.

So that's why they're not with AMCAS. I thought it was just because Dr. Frantz is the devil incarnate. Silly me; my mistake.

First off, congrats on getting the interview! I just got the "you're complete" email yesterday (yeah I know, I should've filled out the app earlier). How long did you have to wait from until you completed your file to get the interview invite?

Thanks,

TF

I never really got the "you're complete" e-mail. I jsut got confirmation that I submitted my application successfully. Then, about two weeks after the mcats came back I got a letter in the mail. Thanks for the congrats. Hopefully there will be more to come. good luck--it seems that less applications means a more prompt response.

Thanks for the info! Are you scheduled for a December date by the way?

TF

It was about 3 weeks from the complete email to the interview email.

Also, this year they said that they would be interviewing less ppl than in previous yrs. I think they said sumthing like they've interviewed over 1000 applicants, but this year it would be 700-900.
