Each. Not including utilities, etc. Some buildings have wifi.
Stay away from the Black Building Homeless Shelter across the street from The Hammer Building at night. The homeless know they are not to mess with students or panhandle to be able to use the shelter, but it seems like if you're a cute blonde, everything is free game. There are also a few common homeless that roam the streets at night who are mentally damaged or delayed.
East of Broadway gets louder at night, with mariachi music, fights, pimps slapping prostitutes, etc., especially during the weekends.
Dorms are somewhat expensive and a bit run down depending on which building you get.

So it is better to live west of broadway?
Are you a current student? If so do you feel safe in the area?

Not a current student. Stay west of Broadway. Their apartments are usually recent remodels.

I did my undergrad at Columbia and the experience was incredible. Housing cost was outrageous but we made it work. Best of luck to you!
