columbia interview

why not? from your stats, you seem pretty competitive for a school like Columbia (class of 2010's DAT average is around a 22~23). I'm surprised you didn't get more interviews.

It's gotta be 22. There noh wayy it's 23 already.

With so many high scores, it seems closer to a 23 than ever before.

yea, but it won't break 23 this year, I suspect. I'm predicting 22.5-ish. It's too hard to go up that high when there are so few students in the country with that kind of scores.

Dentsd, I guess you're probably right.

Anyhows, congrats to Keroro for the Columbia invite.

I don't know about that.... I spoke with someone on Columbia's admissions committee, and he said they were getting a very large number of applicants with 24's this year. And while scores such as 21 and 22 would have been very competitive in previous years, they're just not as competitive in this year's applicant pool because of the huge influx of 24's they've gotten.

And Keroro, congrats on the interview! Good luck!

When they mention 24's, they probably mean the upper end of DAT scores. Which means there are plenty of scores lower than that. However, I agree with you that applicants are probably getting better.

Once you break 22, it's all dumb luck from there on. One question means 2-3 points in one section. One more question and my AA would have increased by one. 3 more questions for 2. At this stage, it's meaningless.

Plus, there are several students with 21TS averaged in with 30 QR, or something like that. They jack up their AA with the most meaningless section of all. Or a 23AA with a 15 PAT. There's always something up.

Agree!! 😉

In the first round of acceptances (Dec1 mailing) the DAT AA was between a 22 and a 23. The average score of the accepted students will probably come down a little by the end of the school year (as the most competitive students apply and interview early), but that's still insane.
