Columbia Revisit Weekend

This may be a little premature, but are you guys bringing family to the revisit weekend? My parents want to go but I don't know if that's part of the plan or anything. Otherwise I'm going to the city tomorrow and might just show my mom the campus while we're there. Also, since this thread is started now, are most of you guys going for both days? And finally, how are you going to dress? I figured jeans or something but I'm never sure.

hey, haha yea i was kinda wondering the same things. my parents want to come with me to check out the school and area, but it seems like they don't have any program or events for them. i am going for both days of the revisit wknd, and my parents will come too, and they'll just walk around and explore the area on their own if columbia doesnt have anything for them. who knows, maybe when we get the revisit program there might be something for parents. as for dress, i'll prolly dress casual too and maybe pack something nice just in case... too early to decide now!

I'm definitely going to wait until I get more info about the revisit program/schedule before I make a decision about what to wear. I'll prob wear a nice pair of jeans on one day but dress a little bit nicer on the other. Are you guys going to stay with a student host overnight? I am only an hour's drive from the city so I could go either way and can't decide. I guess I should wait for the schedule to figure that out too.

yeah i put down that i'd stay with a host for now but i'm also about an hour from the city. also my sister lives in hoboken so i could stay with her.

For the last two years, there has been a family weekend (for both accepted students and current students). It's the weekend right after revisit (which is on Thurs/Fri, right?). I would think this would be the case this year.

I live close to the school too, but I requested a host so we can all go out that night! Thursday night, Friday night, or both. Good times... 😛

maybe this doesn't apply to Columbia, but NYU was business casual, so I figured Columbia would be the same.

I read on another thread that revisit weekends are usually business casual and, yeah, NYU's was so I'm planning on business casual to be on the safe side.

yea so my parents just got an invite in the mail today from columbia saying that the parents/family thing is on saturday april 8, the same weekend as revisit wknd which is convenient! except that i'll be missing my last spring fling at penn 🙁 lol o well

yeah i got that as well. parents weekend looks really boring and i dont think my parents or i are going to it. don't miss spring fling! my friend tells me how fun it is every year.

Does anyone know when they are planning on sending out more information about the revisit weekend? Also, does anyone know (perhaps a current student?) when the program is over on friday? Im leaving the country on saturday out of boston and need to figure out the best time to catch the bus back... thanks a lot, and I look forward to meeting you guys.

i emailed someone in admissions about the dress for revisit weekend, and she said that it is casual.
