I know there is another thread about this, but has anyone actually CONFIRMED by phone or e-mail that transcripts are or are not required with the secondary? Has anyone already submitted with or without transcripts? There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer yet.

in their instructions there's this section on transcripts - yes, they want you to send your transcripts to them.

I doubt it........why don't you try calling them?

I'll call them later....post what you find out...

I wondered about this and the "photo form" that was mentioned when I submitted. So I e-mailed the university and got the following reply:

There is no special form for the photo, please send it to our
office with your name and SSN. Transcripts should be sent as well.

Our Address is:
Columbia University
College of Physicians & Surgeons
630 West 168th Street, #41
New York, NY 10032

Thank you

So. Yes. send transcripts. It's a pain in the ass, but not sending them seems like a stupid reason to be eliminated from consideration.

hmm...weird. i called the admissions office as well when i sent in my secondary, and the lady told me not to bother, since they'll get a copy of our transcript from amcas. she did say that, if accepted, we would have to send them an official transcript.

I thought it was pretty annoying too. I've gone to three colleges over the years for various summer classes and getting my transcripts when I've already sent them to AMCAS didn't fill me with excitment. On the other hand, they wanted us to re-enter all our coursework, so who knows how Columbia works. I'm just saying it's better to be safe than sorry.

I called too and they only require transcripts for MD/PhD applicants.....they will get the transcripts from AMCAS...

If accepted, they would of course want your final transcript to show that you graduated, completed pre-reqs, etc.

I feel you conincidental....I've attend 4 colleges over the years and it was a major pain getting transcripts sent from cities I am not near anymore 🙁

depending on the colleges that you went to, you can just mail in your transcript request form with a check. 🙂 i know you can to it for uc berkeley, i dont know about anywhere else...g'luck. :luck: but yea, it's a pain & additional $.

I called the admissions office. You do not, nor should not, send in your transcripts until they ask you to. They will ask you to only if you are admitted.

THE END

Finally the truth!!! Thank you and goodnight.

I just got an email back saying:

a transcript is required.

This was from Renee, [email protected]. I emailed the psadmissions@columbia, but it got returned, so I emailed this person who had responsed to a different question of mine.

Can someone tell me who they spoke with or emailed?

Thanks

So I called the admissions office myself. The lady I spoke to said "NO TRANSCRIPT for M.D. program applicants," then proceeded to tell me that I only need to send a photo, and that there is no form as implied by the online app. It sounded like this was not the first time she had answered such a phone call.

Don't take my word for it, though. Call them yourself! Maybe if enough people call with the same question they will change their website to include accurate, up-to-date information.
