Hey guys!!! I am a NYS resident and I just got into Columbia. I literally have no idea if I should pick Buffalo or Columbia.. any advice?

I'm not sure if I want to specialize and I'm leaving towards GP.

Why pay an extra 200k to become a GP?

Also why turn down Stony Brook? Stony Brook is like the middle point between Buffalo and Columbia.

Buffalo: Specializing is harder, Much Cheaper. 5 hours away from the city.

Columbia: Specializing is much easier, more expensive. In the City!

Stony Brook: 40k more than Buffalo, 2 hours from the city. Better specialization rates than buffalo.

It was a hard decision to turn down stony brook because it's close to home and I could commute, but the 40 person class size sort of scared me away because there was less of a variety of students. I'm really indesisive now though because I love Buffalo, how cheap it is, and the new renovations look so much nicer than anything I've seen yet. I just don't like how far it is away. And Columbia has a super high reputation and would almost gaurentee a spot in a specialty program, but then again, I don't know if I want to specialize.

Although my parents did promise a flight home from Buffalo whenever I want lol

If you don't plan on specializing I vote buffalo.

But if you do plan to Columbia is the way to go. However remember without scholarships Columbia is almost 400k before interest.
Stonys class size is 44 Columbia is 80. So I don't get how it has that much less variety. But to each their own. I still think Stony would've been perfect, if you want to specialize you are highly competitive and if you just want to be a GP you come out with less debt.

This is a close to 200k desicion goodluck.

The small class size should be something that favors you.
