Curious about how others would compare these schools. Mostly want some input on which program is truly the strongest (outside of the cost of attendance, just want to see what school is the best for someone looking for a welcoming community and service-oriented curriculum)
Post:
School 1: Buffalo (IS)
Pros:
- Close to home
- Cheapest tuition
- Strong, early clinical experience
- Good research funding
- Newer facilities
Cons:
- The culture/environment felt off at the interview – D4s noted some faculty lacked enthusiasm for teaching
- My interviewers were not very warm/welcoming – left the interview pretty disappointed
School 2: Stony Brook (IS)
Pros:
- Strong biomedical curriculum
- In-state tuition
- Small class size
- Close to NYC but still suburban
- Very warm and welcoming students/faculty
Cons:
- Too small?
- Biomedical curriculum is graded for dental students
- Further from home but still very close
- Not really any – loved the interview
School 3: Pitt (OOS)
Pros:
- Good class size
- Warm and welcoming students/faculty
- Early clinic experience?
- Strong research?
- Love Pittsburgh and have family there
Cons:
- Would need to apply for in-state tuition
