Just wondering,
do Columbia dental students take classes with med students?
I think I saw a thread talking about it...

Yeah, they do for the first two years. But starting next year, they'll have a revised curriculum that shortens the curriculum to 1 1/2 yrs or something like that.

I think the revised curriculum starts for people entering 2009, so yeah, c/o 2013. I think they're working on it, and not everything's set in stone.

the curve is a bell curve, so its dependent on you and your classmates. the dental students have their own bell curve separate from the med students' bell curve.

So that may not necessarily work in our favor. If we are smarter than the medical students (which we def. are lol) then our curve will be tougher.

my sister just finished med school there and told me this...you would actually be taking more classes than med students, but i sure as hell would not want to have to compete against any of them on exams..

Well it depends on school and students I guess.
In stony brook dental school, I heard that dental students do better than medical school for some classes, and med students get upset when that happens. You can't say dental student have easier curve than med ppl because dental and med students have different opinions anyway. I guess we will see when we get into dental schools!

yea i did hear about dental students taking more classes than med students... so i guess even if we're smarter than them we're sort of pressed for time...
cause we have to do just about everything they do + dental anatomy/etc.

when i went for my interview they told me that you do take classes with the med students. the reason it may be on a separate curve is because the dent students not only take all the same classes as the med students, but they have to take dent classes and dent lab on top of that. columbia seems to be very proud of this curriculum and their education philosophy.
