has anyone gotten an interview at columbia since that first round of invites on 8/16? my mailing date was 7/22 and so i didn't necessarily expect to hear from them in the first round but i was going to call if another round got sent out and i didn't hear anything....

hey I didn't hear anything from them yet (same mailing date also). But I know fo sho I'm getting a nice rejection letter :(

Strange, it's been 2 weeks. I would've assumed that they should've handed out more by now since the first round prob finished scheduling theirs.

yeah that's what i figured too....but nobody on the interview thread mentioned them beyond that first round, so i'm going to suppress my urge to call and pester them for one more week haha

yeah definitely! but there are a few things to consider:

1. monday is labor day, so they probably won't be there to answer calls.
2. we should probably consider the fact that hurricane irene might have slowed down this second round of reviews...i'm in d.c. and things got moderately bad around here with power outages, etc. :/

maybe if we don't hear by wednesday we should call?

I thnk they are just joking about calling them on Monday :)

Harvard is my first choice, but I'm afraid of my parents' heads simultaneously exploding if I get in.

Then who will pay for dental school??

Columbia is right up there though.

Is there any point in applying to Columbia at this point? I was about to send in my application.


GPA: Overall-4.0, Science-4.0
DAT: AA-22, TS-24, PAT-29
 
Give it a try. High GPA and High DAT score - and they love a high DAT score!

haha but is there a decent shot? Or am I just wasting my time?

Honestly, if I could get into Columbia it would be the best thing ever! But I also have to be very realistic at this point.
 
I would try it with your stats. The only downside is they take a few weeks to cash your application fee. Hopefully that would not hold things up, but I doubt it would matter.

Hmm I guess I should go ahead and send it in then. I would be so happy if I got in. Or even got an interview.

But would you pay 350k for a Columbia degree over 200k for a Texas degree?

Hmm I'm not sure about that.

I feel like going to Columbia would mean so much more. I mean I've worked so hard throughout undergrad and if I can get into a really good school then I should at least apply. Whether or not I will actually go there can be decided later. I don't have to figure that out yet. But I should apply since its now or never.

anything yet?! reading the interview thread and checking pre-dents, i assume not. tempted to call tomorrow. what do you all think?
 
I haven't heard anything yet. Did you guys already get "application complete" emails?

back in the day, i applied with a 23/23/23, 3.5 gpa, and in late september (maybe even october, i don't remember), and got a late interview. and here i am now. :) it's possible.
 
The only emails I've gotten from Columbia were when they notified me that they received my primary app and when they received my fee. Are we supposed to receive an email from them telling us that our app is complete and under review? Or can I assume that they are already reviewing my app? Thanks in advance for the help guys!

Thank you for posting this. I sent in my application already and I'll be mailing my application fee and picture soon. I really hope I hear back!
 
Wait we were supposed to mail a picture out? Is this when they contact us for one?

I only mailed out a check and my invite did not mention anything about a picture...

OP and I were invited for an interview earlier today. I didn't send my photo and the e-mail didn't say I need to bring my picture either.

Hope it helps.
 
Ahhhh no interview...I guess I can kiss my dreams of going to C goodbye.

I think they are moving faster than other schools. My mail-out date is 7/29 and I think there isnt a lot of students between my mail-out date and urs comparing to btw mine and a month earlier one. You can expect to hear good news soon. Good luck to you.
 
GOD IS GREAT!!!

I got my Columbia invite yesterday by email. My application was sent out 7/29, but they didn't receive my application until early August and my application fee until 8/17. Super excited!! I hope it goes well!
 
congrats on the NYU invite invictusx! I remember couple of weeks back we were freaking out about it haha


and of course congrats to vivipredent! now i just hope i get some good news soon since we are in the same mailing date :)
 
hang in there everyone! just updated predents, albeit with a fabricated interview date since they haven't scheduled the new ones yet haha.

now i can FINALLY pay attention in my classes rather than having an insatiable urge to check my email every 5 seconds...haha. good luck to all, sounds like columbia's system is a little funny so if you haven't heard anything yet i wouldn't panic for another few weeks or so.

Thanks, Parle G! How are you faring on your front? I was freaking out, man. You know it, lol. But I feel a bit calm but still haven't heard from schools that others have already received like Temple and Columbia

I thought I hadn't heard from Temple in forever...turns out their invite for interview was lost in my spam folder for a week lol!

That made me hopeful so I just checked my gmail's spam folder and all I see are viagra and peni enlargement emails.

Haha same didn't hear anything from Columbia yet. Temple is finally under review..their status says "A decision no later than July will be made." That is really comforting to hear lol. :rolleyes: And so far I have two interviews scheduled! Excited and nervous at the same time !
 
for those who got columbia interviews this past friday, have they confirmed your interview date yet?
