Any new thoughts on this for Level II? I was thinking of getting it since it seems like USMLE WORLD is overkill and I'm not even taking USMLE. Anyone care to share good experiences with this who actually took the exam already?

Thanks,

B-

I feel like the COMBANK for Step II would have been a better tool for COMLEX I preparation. I felt that USMLEWorld was much better for the COMLEX. I did about 70% of UW, and wish I would have completed 100%. I did an old COMLEX II practice exam that I found in one of the dorms I lived in for a few months. It was made in the late 90's (wow, almost 10 yrs old now). It was primarily one sentence questions, much like COMBANK. HOWEVER, I suspect the COMLEX is starting to write longer questions.

Having done both USMLE World and COMBANK I would echo the sentiments of others on this thread. I would use usmleworld initially to prepare and then the week before your COMLEX use COMBANK to prepare you for the style of questions and the vagueness that is the COMLEX. I finished 100% of world and had a friend lend me his COMBANK account the week before which I found was a great way to prepare, it was reflected in my score as I went up nearly 50 points from an already excellent part I.

Everyone must remember that COMBANK is still the new, untested player in the test prep arena and is a work in progress. I found the questions very similar to the style of the COMLEX and the legal/ethics questions were golden. But I also found a lot of spelling errors and flat out wrong answers on a questions too. In the future I hope this does develop into an outstanding tool because as of now, there is very little out there geared towards the COMLEX.

I have been using USMLEWorld on and off to prepare for Step 2 (COMLEX and USMLE) and I'll be taking the COMLEX on Oct 16.
I'm currently scoring ~65-80% on USMLEWorld and increasing the number of questions gradually (at just 25 questions at a time).
Is it a general consensus that while USMLEWorld will provide the critical thinking and medical knowledge, a short burst of COMBANK will help greatly with the actual exam content? It's a nice chunk of change at $85 for 30 day (I'll only need about a week), so if I'll do quite well with just USMLEWorld and Savarese I might just stick with that combo.
Any thoughts or suggestions are always welcome!👍

thanks to SOMA for the promotional code of 15102 for around $10 off the COMBANK website price. COMBANK will obviously not appreciate this post, but $85 is way too much for the amount of questions you get when compared to the 2200 questions you get with USMLEWorld for $90.

Any promotional code for this COMBANK? I mean 85 for 30 days is a little steep considering the quality of USMLE-WORLD.

I am all about COMBANK -- but would love to see a promotional code for all the SDNers? Anything out there yet?

COMSAE three days before the exam was truly the best preparation. The COMSAE was EXACTLY like the real exam, but only half of the amount of questions. In the end, I ended up scoring 50 points higher on the real COMLEX II. The COMSAE gave me the extra confidence boost in the "final hours" of preparation.

I usually don't take too much time to write posts unless I really feel strongly about something. I have been pretty upset with my experience with COMBANK. The system is very poorly designed. I have found myself:

1) Taking tests and finding their servers freezing in the middle of the test and then having to pause the exam and restart it - which resets your timer btw in their system

2) if you you go back to review your questions at the end of a test - your timer is reset

3) you will be enjoyed to find random questions inside your test when you go back to review that YOU DIDN'T HAVE WHEN YOU TOOK IT. how does that even happen?

4) questions that have answers that are poorly explained - all references are to emedicine? Please....

I have contacted them with all these issues and for WHEN they respond they say "we are trying to fix this". I would go to comquest until COMBANK has actually fixed these flaws - i'm pretty upset i wasted my money on such a dysfunctional system.

Btw I'm taking it for STEP 2 but my gf is using it for STEP 1 and the same errors are occurring for her.
