As an EM guy, I don't think this makes any sense at all. The only logic I could see for this would be prepping for being a baller intensivist - but this seems like a very circuitous route.

Now the anesthesiologists will be completely involved in the patient's care - from the ED, to the floor prior to surgery, in the OR, in recovery and back out on the floor (or ICU), and doing the discharge.
