is the combined medicine/surgery residency a myth? has anyone else ever heard of such a thing?

I don't think it exists, but I could be wrong.

I heard someone call internal medicine a specialty. I know it's a type of primary care. Is primary care considered a specialty?

Like the mythical creature sphynx, half lion, half women, such residency does not exist. :laugh:
 
There are residencies where you will do lots of oupatient medicine and surgery too though. Urology and Ob/Gyn.
 
I think most of the patients in surgery will require your medicine knowledge to some degree anyway.
