Is this residency going to last? I heard that Arizona is going to drop its program. For those of you interviewing, is this residency highly competitive? How difficult would it be to obtain a spot at IU or Brown, for example?

It sounds like such an interesting combination. Why hasn't it caught on?

Finally, how would a fellowship in neuropsych compare? Is it possible to compare a neuro fellowship in behavioral neurology to a psych with neuropsych?

THANKS SO MUCH, older psych-sage-people!

arizona HAS dropped their program-I talked to the old PD of that program and they decided this year to drop it. I just see too many downsides to combined programs especially in neuro/psych although I was considering it before I found out AZ dropped it. Plus gosh I sure dont want to spend 6 years in residency!

If by IU you mean Indiana University, then you might want to contact the neurology department. Technically, the program "exists", but they have not taken a combined resident for the past 4 years. Basically, the plug has been pulled on it at Indiana due to a variety of reasons. However, I have heard if there is an absolutely outstanding applicant, they would consider re-opening the spot.

You know, to me, the idea of learning neuro and psych seems very exciting and useful.

If anyone has any idea what people with the neuro/psych knowledge have done, I would be interested in hearing about it.

Sorry to persist on this topic--humor me, please : )
