Biggest mistakes I made:

1) Since I did cardio and resp on everyone, for a few of them I did not have them lower the gown fully (only a tiny bit) and instead reached inside (from the top) to listen to the heart n lungs on the posterior side. This created kinda awkward positioning... with me reaching in. Also did 2 anterior for 3-4 patients, 1-2 times did 1 lateral only and 1 patient just 6 posterior.

2) For 3 patients I think, I did pulm/aortic valve mixed in with the resp exam

3) For 1 patient, I did tricuspid/mitral after they laid down for the abdominal exam. Basically left those 2 valves.. and did it with the abdominal exam...

4) didn't pick the best antibiotic

Otherwise I was very friendly, showed empathy etc etc. Good intros and closing. All encounters/notes fully done. All diagnoses nailed. All my plans had details, including dosages and specific tests etc. OMT was done adequately and they noted change. Couple tiny things missed otherwise.

Thoughts on 1-3? Could I fail the physical exam part for that?

Also did not re check BP in a patient who had it elevated, although acutely... for known reason. I did tell her I'd recheck but forgot and had no time in the end. Did note in the soap note that I should have rechecked.

If you weren’t a complete and total dick to the SPs and you didn’t miss any empathy or omm cues you will pass. I made several highly inappropriate jokes During the it and I still passed. You will be fine.

1 is the only thing that might hurt you, if a female patient felt uncomfortable during the encounter and gave you low scores on the humanistic domain. You have a very high chance of passing even with this, but for future applicants to recognize, I don't think women prefer blind auscultation down their shirt (even if Dr.Kauffman does it). Standardized patients are understanding that they would have to lower their gown for you.

To be more clear though - I would look to see where I'm going and mostly would have a view of what I'm ausculating. So for the most part it wasn't fully blind and I didn't sense any discomfort. It's just I didn't fully lower the gown.

Are you saying it could have created discomfort potentially? I did have 1 patient where I tried to go from under but her legs were on the gown so I aborted and went from the top. Created a tiny bit of awkwardness. Though overall I was very friendly and everything else in the humanistic part checked out...

One more thing bothering me.. I accidently put "had eustachian tube placed as child" and didn't catch the typo until my timer froze.

Is that grounds for failure? A simple obvious typo?
