COMLEX PE Rescheduling?

Hi everyone,

I had originally planned on taking my COMLEX Level 2CE after a month off during the beginning of fourth year. I just finished my vacation month and I took a practice COMSAE which I received a score of 440 on.

I did quite poorly on level 1 and got a 468. I need to improve my score for level 2CE substantially for me to have a better chance. I feel like I have done several questions so far but would need to do Uworld once more to consolidate everything. I have already finished COMBANk and COMQUEST.

I have a light rotation this month (9-5 PM) so I was hoping to utilize that to consolidate all the info and take it at the end of this month. The only issue is I have my PE in the third week of July (which I have not started prepping for). I know this sounds crazy considering the fact that everyone tries to encourage you to take it early, but I was wondering if there is a way to re-schedule it for August (after I'm done with written boards)? What sucks the most is that I was planning on taking the written test on my scheduled date (which would have been this week), and I even bought my flight tickets in advance.

I just really need to do well on this exam and I think I have the potential to do it with a little bit more nudge. I also entertained the option of studying for this one and the PE at the same time. But with that, I don't want to risk (forgetting things so to speak). I'm usually one who overprepared for the OSCE's (passed all of them), but the PE is P/F whereas the COMLEX2CE is an actual score.

I tried looking to see if they have any dates available but if I click re-schedule then I loose my current date.

Do you guys have any advice for me on what I should be doing? I am interested in IM.

I just don't want to half-ass the PE or the COMLEX written exam because considering my poor performance and class standing, I cannot afford to jeopardize either.

It's pretty easy to reschedule the PE. You just have to keep checking back on the website to see when days open up. I checked one day basically every hour and got my date rescheduled.

From my understanding it's not a big deal to take the PE later because there are only so many open spots, so it's understandable that not everyone can take it super early. It's recommended that you do get your results by the time programs start ranking everyone though (Jan/Feb depending on which match you're doing). So the absolute latest I felt comfortable taking it was in November since it can take 2 months for scores to come back.

This is what I've heard also. I'm taking PE in October and rescheduled the same way as the above poster from late November. Your score on CE is so much more important, especially passing first try, that it seems to make sense to push them both back.

Thanks guys. Nothing is available until november. I was just thinking though, how hard is it to really pass this thing? I think I have the humanistic part down. If I spend an hour a night for the next week should that be enough. I know how to write a note so that's no issue. I just hate that it'll be cutting into my CE time. I'm thinking about buying the combank vids to help cram for it. I really want to spend minimal time on it---i know that sounds horrible but i really need to maximize my score on the CE.

i feel like the worlds biggest idiot for putting myself in this position. Man, I wish I had not listened to my senior classmates last september when I quickly grabbed a date in July. They all said "Take it early, take it early!"


Feeling like such a massive idiot! Oh well, I guess this is karma.

Yeah, so why not just take the date in november? That's what I'd do. The CE is much more important, so I'd strictly focus on that. That's precisely what I'm doing.

Actually, I double checked, the next open date is December 5th. That'll probably be in the middle of interview season and I would not get my results back until 8 weeks later (so like end of january). I am so angry at myself for not studying more effectively for boards. I have been studying since May, I have done COMBANK at 63% tutor and timed 1X. I've done comquest 1X throughout the year and Uworld 1X throughout the year.


I really wonder if more studying time will make a difference. I just need a way to consolidate all this info.

Like I said above, just keep checking back for open dates. Originally there were only open dates in December. But I became pretty diligent one day and kept checking every hour on my study break and there was an open beginning of Nov date.

No big deal to reschedule.
