Hi,

I was just browsing the COMLEX Level 1 practice test on the NBOME website.

The questions look like they are more difficult than the ones on Kaplan Q-Bank.

Can anyone who has already taken level 1 tell me if the questions on this sample exam are representative of the real thing?

Thanks.

Kaplan Q-Bank questions are very representative of USMLE Step 1 questions. They are not as representative of the questions on the COMLEX Level 1, due to the clinical slant of Level 1 vs. the basic science emphasized on Step 1.

As far as the Q-Bank being easier than the NBOME practice materials, all I can say is that it was exactly the opposite when I took the boards. Maybe the NBOME is actually releasing difficult sample questions now? 😕 🙂

thanks. I looked at the sample again, and they didn't look that bad. Some of them seemed very detailed, though.

Fear not. Use the COMLEX sample questions just as a study guide, for practice. Do not try to use them to gauge the difficulty of the real COMLEX. If I remember correctly, I thought that the sample questions had some real particular questions, and the answers were hard to find.

On the real comlex, you'll find some real crappy questions, and unless you learned a mnemonic, you'll never get thme (like the Interleukins, remember, HOT T BONE STEAK!). But in general, I thought the COMLEX was easier than both sample questions (I and II).

Q, DO

Quinn,
Can you spell that interleukin pneumonic out b/c I am having a hell of a time remembering them. Q-bank has nailed me about 10 times with interleukin questions. They just don't stick. Hot T bone steak???

Hot T-Bone StEAk

IL-1: Fever (hot)
IL-2: T cell stimulation
IL-3: bone marrow stimulation
IL-4: IgE production stimulation
IL-5: IgA production stimulation

it's found in First Aid.... Hope that helps 🙂
