Just wondering if anyone had experiences taking either the Kaplan COMLEX prep course and the Northwestern COMLEX prep course. What their + and - were and whether they'd recommend them.

Thanks,
-Sun

Our school did the Kaplan course before COMLEX I in 2003. I thought it helped. The lecturers that they flew in gave very high-yield, board-focused presentations.

The biggest drawback is that the review books are not indexed.

Our class chose the Northwestern Review and although I cannot speak for everyone, the general opinion was a 'thumbs down'. My personal complaint related to the way I study (structured, with a few important mneumonics), the review books were organized in a strange, distracting way with mneumonics for >75% of the information. There were also loads of mistakes.

On the other hand, the class ahead of us chose Kaplan and most of them did not like this course either. I think these review courses are a bit of a catch-22...the longer you sit in lecture, the less time you have to integrate the info for yourself. However, if I had to choose again, I would go with Kaplan. Hope this helps!

I agree, I wanted Kaplan, as I taught MCAT for them and ejoy thier material My class chose Northwest....and they were HORRIBLE....

I would not use them again..as it was very very gimmic oriented...and not very well structured.

My class mainly chose NW due to the "OMT oriented" study which was a complete and total waste...as the information were we told to study was inaccuate, and not reflective of 90% of the test material.

Ugghhh

I guess the title says it all. We had a guy flown in for a weekend and paid out of pocket if you were interested in attending. I would not recommend it to anyone. Save your money and buy beer with it.
