I'm a post-bacc and i'm looking to finish all my prereqs by the end of fall '12 (so that I can study full-time for the DAT during spring '13 and apply in summer '13)

Please comment on my planned schedule for the next two semesters. I've arranged it this way due to current (and what I foresee to be) scheduling and course availability issues at my school.

thanks!

This Summer

Physiology + Lab

Microbiology (+ lab. Should I take lab? Only Midwestern AZ and IL require the lab, but I don't want to start illiminating schools based on prereqs)

Fall

Anatomy + Lab

Gen Chem II + Lab (I've taken my chem's out of order, I took gen chem 1 last summer and finishing up ochem this spring)

Bio I lab (taking the lecture right now w/out the lab).

Biochem

And then I'm done! And can study for the DAT full time and write personal statement drafts 🙂

So...am I going to HATE myself for the summer? Any thoughts or opinions..is my schedule doable?

I cannot help with your question much because I have not applied yet but I do have a question as I am a post-bacc applicant as well. Will you be taking bio 2 because I think thats a requirement. How long did/will it take you to finish all of your pre-reqs because I am trying to figure out how to group them to finish them with ample time to study for DAT before applying.

First, your school is very weird in that it allows you to take Ochem before completing gchem, and also biochem before genchem.. But anyways, I think your fall semester is way overloaded! Biochem + Gchem/Lab + Anatomy/Lab is scary to think of. If I were you I would drop anatomy (you have physiology, but some schools require anatomy) or drop biochem (tough class, some schools require biochem). You obviously cannot eliminate your other fall classes because they are all required.

Thanks for your help guys.

I've decided to take physiology, genchem2 w/ lab, and microbio in the summer.

In the fall I'll take biochem, anatomy, microbio lab and bio 1 lab. I think this should be a much more manageable schedule. I've heard microbio lab at my school is not very intense in terms of work load.

To answer RNDDS's question, I have already taken both bio 2 and bio 1. I only lack a bio 1 lab because it didn't fit into my schedule.
