I am trying to decide if I should apply for a military scholarship (leaning toward navy) or possibly attempt to go into the USPH after I graduate. I have some time in that I am applying for the 2012 cycle, and taking my DAT in 2.5 months :help: ha. Any information about the USPH would be much appreciated. I have found some information online; but I always do better talking to someone then just reading a website's synopses on a program. I was also trying to find the difference in pay, because I would have to factor in loan money if I decide to do USPH.

Thank You!!!!

There is no difference in pay. Active duty USPHS dentists receive the same pay and benefits as active duty military dentists.

As you look into USPH there are a couple of different career paths. You can be active duty like the military. You can contract directly with the Native Americans at some of the reservations (not all) if you do Indian Health Services (which falls under USPH), or you can enter into the GS system. All have benefits - all will have limitations on where you are assigned or what you can do. Choose wisely.
