So my school's pre-med committee does not just write a cover letter to go along with my recs- instead they write a compilation or "best of" letter with the best quotes from individual recommendations interspersed within their endorsement.

Is it fine to send this letter on its own to my schools? My pre-med advisor (who has given me weird/incorrect advice in the past) said to send the committee letter + all the recommendations it cites, but does that make sense? 😕

Thanks!

Yes, indeed, I went to an ivy that did that, but the incompetent adviser wrote a compilation that was not on par with my actual LORs. If your adviser seems incompetent outside of this issue, I suggest not using the compilation if you don't have to.

Two years of applying with the committee letter, I basically didn't even get interviews.

Year 3 I apply w/ individual LOR's (the same ones) and get 8 M.D. interviews and 8 D.O. interviews. I got into most schools where I interviewed.

And b/c I waived my right to see my letters, I will never know what the ____ wrote in that letter...hell, for all I know, she referenced someone else's LORs, not mine when writing it.
