Spoke to my schools committee and they said that there is a big waiting list for the schools comm letter and that I should expect mine done sometime july. Perhaps earlier.

Is that okay?

It's better than not having one (assuming your committee interview goes well). In fact, at my undergrad, committee interviews start in September.

My question is if thats too late since my app will be sent out jun 1st

Funny thing.... your "app" won't mean anything until it has that letter in it. Schools won't even look at you iirc until you have that. So don't worry. Many places don't send their letters til late September early October. July is super early. Its why people who send it out June 1st and then start freakibg when they hear nothing for a month (or much longer) make me laugh. Because they probably have a LoR that wont be ready for months. Because zero percent of your app is read until 100% is in.

I thought that LoRs were sent with secondaries which an applicant does not receive until about July/August. Or does the primary app also contain lors? 😕

unless I am remembering incorrectly, and I don't think my applications were that long ago, the letter recommendation is part of the standardized application. And until every part of the standardized application, both submitted by you and submitted by various administrative bodies, is 100% completed, the AAMC and AACOMAS will not send out your application to the schools. basically, when you go to fill out that gigantic application, if there is a tab for it, it needs to be 100 percent done or else nothing you fill out will be sent forward. And I'm very confident, but not absolutely so i will not 100 percent guarantee, that there is a tab for your letter of recommendation where it acknowledges if its been received or not, similarly to how there is a tab for all of your transcripts.

if that tab exists, then I would assume I am right. If it doesn't exist, and I am remembering things wrong and I apologize.

AACOMAS does not have the same LOR setup as AMCAS (right now at least). All DO apps request LORs with either secondary or after ii (LECOM). AMCAS is setup like you mentioned.

My committee is notoriously late sending out letters and have made people complete in like November in past cycles.

Because of this I'm going to have separate letters and submit them as soon as it's possible. Then I really don't care when the committee gets their crap together and sends it because I'll already have the minimum in. And if I don't get a good letter from the committee I'm just going to tell them to eat it anyway.

Yeah I mean im going to have my committee send out my 3 LORS (2 science + 1 DO) when I send out my app but its just the committee app wont be done till mid summer.

I certainly don't trust my committee to handle any of my personal LOR's. Why don't you just send them out yourself and be sure?

Cant do that, school doesn't allow it. I mean I can but it would imply that I have seen my letters which doesn't look good.

You'll still be okay then. You just won't get that boost from your committee until later.
