Hi all,

I was just wondering about committee letters. My school doesn't submit them until late july-august and I was wondering if dental schools need them before processing? I've already submitted my app with DAT scores and have gotten emails from some schools saying that it's been received. Will they begin reviewing it or will they wait until my committee letter is sent in?

It depends on the dental school, I've gotten emails from some schools (Upitt, UMich) stating that my application is incomplete, namely, missing LoRs. Other schools just stated that my application has been forwarded to Adcom for review. My school is also taking forever to submit them to AADSAS, and I submitted all the letters to my Pre-health Advisory committee at my school since April. The chairman of the committee specifically told us not to email him else he will personally delay the submission for that person. I understand that he does not wish to be harassed by overzealous applicants, but 2.5 months? Even considering that AADSAS application cycle started on June 1, it is now July 15, that's 1.5 months. Perhaps everybody went on vacation? I don't know what to do, and I don't want to complain until I get accepted to Dental schools, then I am going to write a letter to the University President on this, to help future generations of pre-health applicants, at least at my school (I know, I know, just suck it up, but truly...)

The majority of schools will wait until your committee letter is in and your application is complete before they begin reviewing it. Some schools will grant interviews without complete letters but chances are that nothing will happen until your letter is in.
