Hi. I wanted some advice about taking summer classes at a community college. I am a junior and still have Orgo 2 and Orgo 2 lab to take. I took Orgo 1 & orgo 1 lab at my 4 year institution but was thinking about taking Orgo 2 & lab later this summer at a community college. My only concern was if Vet schools would 1. frown upon me taking such a core class at a community college and 2. for some reason make me retake it at my 4 year college since only the grade for the class would be transfered, the grade for the class wouldnt actually count as a part of my GPA. I realize each Vet school has different requirements but any input would be great!! Thanks.

i think if it transfers to your college as organic chemistry, just take it at your junior college. i took all my gen bio, gen chem, physics, calculus, and micro at a junior college.

at university i took my ochem, biochem, reproduction, nutrition, anat & phys, endocrinology, and i did a micro minor: immunology, medical bacteriology, microbial physiology.

just make sure that your ochem will transfer, at my junior college...it says 'ochem' but it just transfers as another chem class. nothing important.

If those credits are transferable to your primary institution, then there's no reason why a vet school won't allow you to fulfill that requirement at a JC. Unless that class at the JC is only equivalent to a class that the vet school won't accept.
