Hello there! I'm a 3rd year med student interested in psychiatry (for those who don't know me) Does anyone know anything about the psychiatry programmes at the Califronia Pacific Medical Center, and/or San Mateo? Anyone interview there? What was the feel? How competitive are these programmes? Are they filled with FMGs like UCLA-Kern (Bakersfield), or are they hardcore programmes accepting only top-notch students? How good is the training?
I'm trying to set up away rotations right now. The application for California Pacific Medical Center is actually quite involved, and requires a "letter of evaluation" from a psychiatry preceptor, Dean's letter, etc. At least it's better than the one for Cedars-Sinai (2 letters of recommendation and personal statement! I probably can't even get into their away rotation, much less their programme!
