Sheik-sha-mash 🙂 ,

So lately I started worrying a lot about my competitiveness.

I'm not too worried about my GPA and am only worried about my MCAT and ECs.

My ECs are heavily community/religious oriented with one clinical experience here in Canada shadowing a DO for 60 hours (done over a period of 6 months). I also accompanied a distant family member (they're a pediatrician) on one of their rounds in a hospital in a certain war torn country where I was exposed to quite a bit of triage in that 8-10 hour period (I didn't really put this experience in the Volunteer section of my AACOMAS since I wasn't certain if I could since it was with family and was only one day. So I just mentioned it in my Personal Statement as something that affected me greatly).

Most of my experience is as a coordinator in a youth advocacy group mentoring and guiding youth in my local community (have close to 600 hours done over a prd of over 3 years). As well I have been an active member and now an exec of one religious university org. for 2 years now (about 40 hours in total over a 2 year period).

Do you guys think thats pretty competitive with other DO apps with respects to ECs since I notice many apps have research experience which I have absolutely none (since I have no interest in research and am only interested in primary care - specif. emerg. med.)?

Thank you

we can think whatever but it still doesn't makes us here adcoms.
If you aren't sure then ask schools you are interested in. They are the best source.
But other then that the only way to find out if your application is competetive is to apply.

I whole-heartedly agree. Your ECs look fine from this standpoint, but as the previous poster indicated, we're not adcoms. I had a wide range of experiences, but not nearly as much shadowing as you have had. Best of luck in the process. I hope you have applied already, rolling admissions! If you're applying next cycle, do it early!
