Just looking at Albany's prompt "Tell us about a community with which you identify and how you are involved with it," I have been struggling. My best idea is talking about the academic teaching community, since I have done a lot of work teaching undergraduate students and have tutored students in need for free, and was wondering if this would be a good "community" to talk about. Kind of struck out for other ideas at the moment. Thank you for any and all advice!

This is a veiled attempt to find out race/ethnicity/religious practice, particularly if you are a member or a religious, racial or ethnic minority. It could also apply to LGBTQ+ community, or a long-time (and expected life-time) identification with a group such as scouting/Eagle scouts.

Does any of this resonate for you?

In addition to what @LizzyM said, SDN is also a good community, though with only 1 post, you have not been involved with it (yet)! *woof*

That answer is one that would earn a quick rejection.

Among other things, Adcoms want to see that people have lives outside academics.

See LizzyM's comment above.

I’m also struggling with this prompt- I’m a racial minority (Asian, so ORM) but I haven’t really been involved in it or contributed in any way- does anyone have any tips??

Did you post a WAMC? What activities can you write about in greater depth?

If I was answering this I'd write about growing up on a farm. It's a diversity essay
