please compare the schools between each other, i.e. schoolA is __ at this, in contrast to school B,etc. Any trivia, stereotypes that might let clueless undergrads know more about the various schools. For example at Columbia students take the same classes with the medstudents. At Tufts, they take classes separately. What is the advantage of either system? Of course this is one thing that is possible to find out from just reading the schools' websites. But it's still quiete a task if youre going to try to compare this information from all the different schools. And there are things that we cant find out about unless we either attend those schools or at least visited them for interviews.

It's all personal opinion. If you do a search for opinions or comparisons between dental schools you'll find them ranted, raved, bitched and complained about ad nauseum on SDN.

Here are the links to all the dental schools:

Have fun developing your own opinions- it's a valuable skill that far more people on here need to learn to utilize (not you necessarily, but I do have a specific person in mind when I say this 😡 ).

ISU, but most of those topics, they talk about 1 school in particular. it helps me to form my own opinions if they actually compare different schools.

I have to agree with ISU_Steve. You will get a different ranking with each person and I am not going to attempt to do so myself. What may be the ultimate school for another student may be a dud for you - the process of determining a winner school is very subjective. A good resource to consider is the interview feedback section of SDN. A lot of past applicants have commented about every one of those schools on your list. If what you have listed are the schools you will be applying to then I think you have a good batch. Prepare a bunch a questions for a schools, such as if dental students and medical students take some courses together, then sit back and see which ones grant you an interview. Once there observe the students, faculty, and campus then draw your own conclusions. Best of luck!

This may be because nobody can accurately comment on a school he/she doesn't attend.

but if they interviewed at those schools, then they talked to people that actually attend them, so they can in fact evaluate several schools at once. i'm not interviewing anywhere because im applying next year. and i like all the trifling info i can get.

just go to the school you want to go to!

I ageee with ISU Steve form your own opinions. Relying on other's opinions may lead you in the wrong direction.

Sure. It definitely doesn't hurt to ask the opinions of others who interviewed at schools. That's the purpose of that whole post-interview questionnaire on this site. But you must realize you're getting that student's perspective, which may be different from your own had you shared his/her experiences.

Unfortunately, it's really difficult to get a decent idea of what a school is like during the interview day. You're rushing around and answering questions. Not much time to just chill, relax with students, and take it in. Plus, at this stage in the game most pre-dents don't know the important questions to ask to determine if they'll be happy at a school. That's why it's best to talk specifically with upper students at each school you're interested in. I bet you could email the admissions office and ask for the email/phone of a current 4th year and they'd give you one. If they didn't I'd wonder if they were hiding something. If you really wanted to get a good idea for a school's pros and cons you could talk to that student referred to you and then ask him/her for the email of a student who might have different opinions.

Try using the search option at the top of the screen. You will find tons of threads dedicated to the topic. Not much has changed btwn then and now.
