I was faced with the same decision, but the biggest factor in where I ultimately went was how I felt during my interviews. I felt really apprecited and wanted at KCOM, enjoyed my interviews, and was especially impressed after meeting the current students. I felt the curriculum at KCOM was more challenging than at KCUMB, and most importantly, I felt that it had a better focus on osteopathy, OMM, and anatomy. The biggest strike against it was the location in Kirksville vs. Kansas City, but you don't even notice since you're jumping from exam to exam all of the time. If you have any specific questions, you can email me.

I had that choice and went with kcumb. the school is the biggest in missouri and seems to have more money to throw around since it is building a new parking lot, auditorium, and just completed the research facility and updating of the wireless network system. i have heard some ppl argue that the curriculum at kcom is tougher, but looking at board scores, it cannot be THAT much more if any helpful. kcumb has a much larger class and still routinely scores very very high on boards - on par with kcom. the area surrounding kcumb is a large city with a ton of things to do if you get bored?? heh... but it seems there are times when this comes up and you are glad to be in kc. the biggest thing to me was the staff and students, maybe it was just me, both schools were nice and helpful, but it seemed that kcumb was really trying to do everything they could to help you and the students were always inviting and helpful. just something that makes you want to be a part of it. the architecture is pretty cool too. kcumb also has some pretty distinguished alumni all around (since they are so big, more students seem to be around 👍 😀 ) such as the pediatric neurosurgeon chief in detroit.
