For some of the school's secondaries, they ask for a "compelling personal reason" for attending that school. While thinking about Tufts' secondary, the only thing close to a compelling personal reason I could come up with is: I like the Boston Celtics and clamchowder; bad "compelling personal reason?" If something like this has been posted previously, my apologies -- a post referral would be great. meep

Do you know anyone that attends the school? See if they can give you insight into the school.

Is there anything about their program that you like in particular? Do some research on the school's website re: curriculum, any extracurricular opportunities like research or med student clubs, kind of students they look for, their mission statement, etc.

I think location/region is a normal factor in considering schools, so it's ok to mention the Boston area specifically, but you really need something more than that.

I just put "no" on that question for Tufts. It obviously didn't hurt me because I will be starting med school there in August! It's not that big of a deal, if you don't have a reason other than liking the school and the city, just say "no." (I think they're looking for things like: "my husband just got a job in Boston/is attending Tufts" or "my elderly parents live in Boston and I will be their caretaker.")
