Make sure you want to become a physician-scientist. Other than that, part of MD/PhD (from what I've seen) is this learning curve. If you feel confident in what you have already accomplished and can speak about it proficiently, I personally don't see an issue in applying now. Keep the lab job while you're interviewing on the off-chance you aren't accepted during your first cycle.
