I am planning to apply for goucher's and bryn mawr's postbac program next year and I was just looking over their sites....forget med school, I don't think I'd even get into one of these programs!! I was a business major and a 2007 graduate...I had no clinical/health setting experience and it just seems like I have no shot for these programs because of all these other applicants with amazing backgrounds that have something to do with health profession.

I had 3.2 and I worked full-time while I was in school. I have an excellent resume for a business major but nothing to do with medicine....Am I better off just going to a state university and work on my science pre-reqs on my own??

As I posted in the PA section, the top postbac programs are very competitive. I was somewhat involved w/ admissions last year and IIRC our program only accepted about 10% of applicants, with people with ridiculous stats being rejected (i.e. 3.8+/1500+ SAT), in many cases because the admissions committee didn't feel they showed a commitment to medicine, but also because the applicant pool was just outstanding in general. I escorted about 20-25 students during the spring semester and many of them will have their pick of schools if they do well in the program assuming they decide not to link.

That said, you never know how you will do until you apply. I know that Scripps is a pretty good mix of people straight out of undergrad and people with lots of work experience with very little background, but for the most part, the people directly out of undergrad have extremely good stats, FWIW.

One program you may want to consider, in any case, is HES, which sounds like it would be a great fit for you if you're willing to deal with a little more extended timeline.
