Hey guys... I know this is a long ways away but I would love to know how much weight SURP's place on GPA in general. My freshman year I did very well first semester but second semester I hit a bad combo of difficult mathematics and a VERY boring analytical chemistry course where I failed to motivate myself since the material was just so awful. when I apply I will have one more semester under my belt any my overall cGPA will be about a 3.7 if all goes right. If I have this GPA with extensive research experience (2 basic science pubs in 1.5 years) and even one previous summer of research at the my top choice SURP institution (with a potential clinical journal pub) will I be competitive?

A 3.7 isn't bad at all. Also, the coordinator of the SURP that I did said that they put the most stock into your statement of interest. My SOI was very strong I'd say. This particular program accepts less than 10% of applicants as well. I was lucky and got into my top choice after only applying to 3, and my GPA is good-but-not-great. Most people apply to around 10 SURPs at my college, though.
