don't know much about kentucky, but louisville is not hard to match at from what I know. In fact, they have not filled their program for the last couple of years. don't know much about the program itself except that the program director at UL is a graduate of my school and it seems to be solid. Not sure whether I'll apply or not.

UK is pretty easy to match into, evident by the insane percent of their IM residency program who are graduate of either UK or UofL. The culture there is one where most people don't want to leave the state, so this isn't too surprising. I knew a lot of residents from 1997 - 2000 as my wife was an IM resident and Chief there while I was in grad school at UK. For the most part, the residents there did not impress me much (understatement). However, the IM program director at UK is really a fantastic physician and teacher. One of the sharpest instructors in the rational physical exam in the country.
