Hi Everyone!

I just finished my first year! I'm really interested in Complementary Alternative Medicine and was wondering if anyone might like to work with me in putting together an collection of Complementary ALternative Medicine (CAM) related RCTs from various journals? It would be really fun, or if maybe you can just direct me to a good source for these things that would be great. Take care!

Hugs!

Yes!
I'm interested in evidence-based alternative medicine, and research relating to that. Unfortunately in the field there is a lot of skepticism and also a lot of hacks (both sides of the coin). However, I would LOVE to eventually write up a literature review of alternative medicine research (If anything has a real effect, what has been proven as bull* etc etc.. I think showing both sides is useful.) I have a research mentor that might help us put together the article ( a toxicologist/obgyn researcher PhD). He's published a lot in the past and has been very supportive of me.
It's my 2nd year of medical school now, but we can at least put together a collection of articles now even if we don't have time to write it up yet.

If anyone wants to contribute articles to this discussion thread, please do. Articles that discount alternative therapies are just as valuable as ones that prove them.

This sounds like a rather large undertaking. How do you plan to organize it? What areas of CAM will be included (CAM is a very broad designation)? Is nutritional research considered CAM? What are your goals for the database? Do you plan on just listing each study, or will you actually dissect the study design etc for quality, bias, etc (doing this for every CAM study out there would be impossible).

Do you see your database being a useful resource beyond, say, a PubMed search for CAM info? In other words, what will be in your database that isn't available elsewhere?

Good luck with your endeavor.
